Specific course information

This course presents the design of the systems for the supply of drinking water and drainage of sewage in urban areas from the perspectives of planning, studies and design, requirements and specifications of construction, operation and sustainable management. Students will acquire skills for the design and environmental management of those systems and will understand the problematic of drinking water and basic sanitation in Colombia and will be able to propose possible solutions.

  • To understand the need for “master plans” of water supply systems.
  • To define the critical design parameters for a water supply system.
  • To design the key components of a water supply system.
  • To understand the problematic of basic sewage, worldwide and particularly in Colombia.

  • To define the critical design parameters for urban drainage system or sewer.
