Specific course information

The objective of this course is to develop in students their abilities to search and collect information, to identify research problems in Civil Engineering and to present viable research proposals. The use of modern research tools, text processing and reference management are emphasized, as well as the skills in oral and written communication.

Specific goals of the course

  • To identify a research problem and formulate the proposal to resolve it.
  • To demonstrate the ability to search information sources available today.
  • To demonstrate oral and written skills in the field of civil engineering, according to national and international standards.
  • To demonstrate the capacity for critical reading regarding research results
  • To demonstrate the ability to observe and identify the problems in the topics of interest.
  • To demonstrate the ability to find answers to key questions and theoretical and methodological support them orally and in writing
  • To identify the relationship of the problem under consideration to economic, political or social context
